(2010-09-19) Letter from Father Joe

Dear Friends,

I don’t really know what to say first … but speaking from my heart, what comes to mind immediately is … “Thank You”!

To our organizations, ministries, and volunteers. To my beloved rectory staff, school staff, grounds crew (they do so much more than just maintenance), parents to our children, and with a special thanks to those who serve mass so faithfully. To all of you who so generously support 14 Holy Helpers by your constant financial support and loving presence at mass. To all who make our liturgies special … musicians, ministers, ushers, lectors and once again, servers. To our beloved sisters, who fill our convent and their joy and loving faith.

I know some of you were away last weekend when I announced my new appointment, and I’m sorry for the shock this news brings. I am very sad and am having a difficult time saying good-bye to all of you. I trust in God’s plan and am grateful that Bishop Kmiec has placed his trust in me, but leaving you at this time is one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. I will pray with you that God sends your new pastor to you quickly. Whoever he is, joy and wonderful experiences await him here at Fourteen.

Until next week then I send you my deepest gratitude and profound love.

Your friend & pastor,

Father Joe
