School News
During these winter months Fourteen Holy Helpers School continues to be a hub of activity. On February 12 the eighth grade students took the computer generated quiz called the Scholastic Academic Challenge. It tests general knowledge on a variety of subjects. It is a test given to eighth graders nationwide. Results will be announced at our graduation dinner in June. On that same day our primary grades celebrated the one hundredth day of the school year with various activities and projects. On February 24 fifteen of our students were inducted into the Beta Club, our honors club for the junior high students. On March 3 our eighth graders received their hope ribbons and pins at our weekly mass. This is the first of many celebrations for our graduating class. That afternoon our fifth graders had their DARE graduation in the parish hall. On March 7 several of our band students were selected to perform at a special concert at Mount Saint Mary Academy. Representing our school in the cadet band are CJ Luksch, Heather Mueller, Jack Mulcaire, David Sharkey, and Kristi Smith. Honor band members include Catherine Blaszak, Erica Luksch, Alexander Patten, Joseph Sharkey, Eric Wilde, and Emma Winiarski. These students will perform with students from other Catholic schools. Our school is proud to have so many students chosen. On March 9 our students will have a buddy lunch. This is when the older students are paired with the younger students. Sometime during the month the buddies will do an activity or project together. Our second graders will be visiting a chocolate factory on March 17 and will be receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time on March 24. To celebrate St. Joseph’s Day our students will experience a St. Joseph’s Day Table on March 19 during their lunch. Reconciliation and Stations of the Cross round out our activities as we continue our Lenten journey.
