Saint Denis

Feast Day October 9

St. Denis, who was born in Athens, Greece, was a very learned man of that city and a member of the Areopagus, Athenian Supreme Court. He was converted by a disciple of St. Paul and was later consecrated Bishop of Athens. he zealously watched over the Church in Athens. Finally he died as a martyr for Christ during the persecution of Domitian in the year 96.

St. Denis is generally pictured as a bishop. He is considered a special helper of those troubled in conscience and by headaches.
